Talcott House
Woodstock, VT
Recipient of the 2015 Vermont Nursery and Landscape Association “Large Scale Residential Design” Honor Award
Talcott House is prominently located at the corner of Pleasant and Elm Streets in Woodstock Village. The design recognizes and carefully integrates four zones within the property: the traditional front village streetscape with white picket fence and strong emphasis on the architectural facade; the private, formal circular lawn and defining plantings; the parking court, drive and service area; and the lower woodland riparian buffer with streamside stone terrace and fire pit.
The crafted spatial delineation, use of native massing and specimen plantings and the delicate balance of old and new gestures and materials, energizes the previously stagnant space.
