Teagle’s Landing
Woodstock, VT
Recipient of the 2023 Vermont Public Places Honor Award
The pocket park, dedicated to Frank H. Teagle, Jr.,(Woodstock patron and park founder) sits on a small triangle of land bordered by the Kedron Brook, Central Street, and a 4-story brick commercial building in Woodstock’s commercial village. The two-tier design steps from the upper public sidewalk to a mid-level intimate seating area overlooking the brook. A steel-edged peastone elliptical terrace at the lower tier is delineated by carefully placed seating boulders and native plants (serviceberry, dogwood, summersweet, ferns and mixed perennials), backed by a 3-story planting of climbing hydrangea on the adjacent building wall. Granite stairs and steel handrails tie the spaces together.
